The aim of Public Education Centers(PEC)is to increase the quality of education and to meet the needs of adults in Professional, cultural and social areas within the scope of Lifelong Learning (LLL). They show continuous development according to the conditions of the age and the needs of the environment in order to achieve the purpose of education and support its progress.PECs provide training services by making cooperation protocols with their own buildings and different institutions/organizations(official institutions/organizations,municipalities,professional organizations,NGOs,foundations,etc.).PECs provide education services to disadvantaged adults with limited access to education such as residents of nursing home/women’s shelter,individuals receiving treatment in hospital,individuals in correctional facilities,adults in community mental health centers,detainees/convicts,persons with disabilities,probation officers,rehabilitation centres, asylum seeker/refugee/immigrants.The education programs in the field of activity of PECs are literacy,vocational-technical and socio-cultural courses.Upon successful completion of the course, trainees receive a MEB- approved certificate.PECs offer free courses open to the public.
Çankaya Başkent PEC started to serve in 2006.It is a LLL institution that provides full-time-full-year service in 2 buildings in order to meet the educational needs of the individuals in its surroundings. Çankaya Başkent PEC is one of the 11 accredited institutions selected among 29 public education centers by the Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education in the Learner and Staff Mobility Projects of Institutions Having Accreditation in Adult Education (KA121-ADU).
